This question is perhaps, even in the scientific world, a big question, how to differentiate what is just a flu from what is the new coronavirus? How to know how to identify without the test?

Today, the world and the scientific community remain without many answers about this new virus that appeared 7 months ago. We still have no way of knowing exactly how it works, or the main group affected, what determines its incidence, its mutations or even what can provide us with a cure or vaccine. In addition, every day, scientists and doctors end up intrigued without being able to measure exactly what the rate of asymptomatic and symptomatic people in the world, transmissibility rates, etc.

But the main doubt, especially for those who are not part of scientific world, is knowing how to differentiate a simple flu from the coronavirus.

According to Yale New Haven Health, there are some basic points that help us differentiate.

What is flu?

It’s a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. The best way to prevent flu is by getting a flu vaccine every year.

Its main symptoms are:

  • High fever
  • Prominent headache
  • Exhaustion
  • Body aches
  • Cough

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus are a group of virus that are common in animal and humans. Usually is releated to respiratory ilness. And can be worst that pneumonia. Because it has a rapid evolution and no specific treatment yet.

Its main symptoms are:

  • Fever (medium to severe)
  • Shortness of breath (medium to severe)
  • Cough
  • Exhaustion
  • Body aches

Also according to Yale NewHaven Health the main difference between the two viruses is that the coronavirus, in addition to having a very easy and fast spread, evolves more quickly within the body, and can arrive in fatal cases in a matter of days.
