Weibel Palade Bodies. The illustration shows two elongated, rod-shaped cytoplasmic granules with paracrystalline, coiled tubules. In cell biology and vascular anatomy, these Weibel–Palade bodies (WPBs) are membrane-bound secretory organelles within endothelial cells, a cellular component of blood vessel tissue. Functionally, WPBs store and exocytose von Willebrand factor (vWF) and P-selectin (SELP), supporting hemostasis and leukocyte recruitment. The site is the cytoplasm of the vascular endothelium lining arteries, veins, and capillaries. Type: organelle and lysosome-related secretory granule.
