A simplified scientific illustration of the amastigote life-cycle stage of Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi), an intracellular protozoan parasite. The image shows a small oval eukaryotic cell lacking a free flagellum, representing the replicative form that resides within the cytoplasm of mammalian host cells. In biological hierarchy, it is a unicellular organism within host tissue.
