An adult female Trichinella spiralis (T. spiralis) is shown as a slender, cylindrical nematode with internal reproductive structures, including a uterus containing developing larvae. This parasitic roundworm, an organism within the phylum Nematoda, is studied in parasitology and pathology. Functionally, it causes trichinellosis: adults inhabit the small intestinal mucosa of mammalian hosts, while released newborn larvae migrate to and encyst within striated skeletal muscle. The image represents an organism-level helminth rather than a cell or tissue, demonstrating hierarchical larvae within the adult worm.
