In pathology, histology, and oncology, this premalignant epithelial lesion arises within the exocrine pancreas and can progress from low- to high-grade dysplasia, serving as a precursor to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. At the hierarchical level, individual epithelial cells compose the ductal epithelium within pancreatic tissue, disrupting secretion and ductal integrity through abnormal proliferation and nuclear atypia.
