Microrray heatmap. A color-coded matrix displays differential gene expression across multiple samples. This bioinformatics visualization from molecular biology and transcriptomics shows rows representing genes and columns representing samples, encoding normalized mRNA (messenger RNA) abundance with a red-black-green scale. Within the biological hierarchy, it summarizes gene-level transcripts within cells of a tissue or organism.
