A stylized schematic of laminin-2, a cruciform heterotrimeric extracellular matrix glycoprotein with three polypeptide chains (α2, β1, γ1) forming a coiled-coil stalk and branching short arms. In biological hierarchy, it is a protein component within the basement membrane of tissues, contributing to the structure of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and cell adhesion. Within cell biology and biochemistry, this molecule, also termed laminin-211 (LN-211, merosin), interacts with integrins and dystroglycan to support tissue stability and signaling.
