A simplified cytogenetic ideogram depicts the homologous pair of chr 17 (chromosome 17) with alternating light and dark bands representing G-banding (Giemsa banding). Within the biological hierarchy, each chromosome is a DNA–protein complex located in the nucleus of a human cell, contributing to the genome of Homo sapiens.
