Plates of hepatocytes are arranged radially around a central vein (CV), with sinusoidal capillaries draining blood inward from portal triads at the lobule corners—portal venule (PV), hepatic arteriole (HA), and bile ductule (BD). Bile canaliculi conduct bile outward toward BD, opposite to blood flow. In anatomy and hepatology/physiology, this architecture enables metabolism, detoxification, and bile production.
