This membrane-bound organelle, situated in the perinuclear cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, functions in protein glycosylation, lipid remodeling, and cargo sorting for secretion or membrane delivery. In cell biology and biochemistry, the GA receives vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) at the cis face and dispatches processed cargo from the trans-Golgi network (TGN).
