A schematic illustration depicts an indwelling urinary catheter (IUC), commonly called a Foley catheter, designed for bladder drainage. The medical device features a flexible double-lumen tube with a distal drainage eye and a near-tip inflatable retention balloon. One lumen ends in a drainage connector, while the second lumen includes an inflation valve for sterile water. In anatomy and urology, it is inserted via the urethra into the urinary bladder—an organ of the lower urinary tract—to enable continuous urine drainage and postoperative decompression.
