A simplified diagram depicts an Fc receptor (FcR) complex as two membrane-spanning chains with extracellular domains and short cytoplasmic tails. In immunology and cell biology, this membrane receptor protein resides in the plasma membrane of leukocytes within the immune system. The FcR binds the Fc region of immunoglobulins (Ig) to cluster receptors and initiate intracellular signaling via associated adaptor chains, enabling effector functions such as opsonization, antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC).
