A schematic of a redia larva of Fasciola hepatica (F. hepatica), the common liver fluke, showing an elongated sac containing developing cercariae. In parasitology and helminthology, this larval stage represents a clonal offspring-producing unit within the trematode life cycle, residing within a freshwater snail intermediate host. At the hierarchical level, cercariae develop within the redia, which in turn belongs to the parasite inhabiting mammalian biliary systems and causing fascioliasis.
