A chest radiograph (CXR) depicts both lungs within the thoracic cavity of Homo sapiens, organs of the respiratory system. Relative clearing of previously conspicuous perihilar and interstitial opacities is visible, consistent with early improvement of pulmonary congestion (edema). Within anatomy, physiology, and radiology, the lungs function as paired organs enabling alveolar gas exchange. This imaging study is used in pulmonary medicine to assess cardiopulmonary fluid status and monitor the resolution of edema-related opacities.
