Cirrus cloud — A stylized depiction of thin, fibrous cloud streaks composed of ice crystals against a dark background. In atmospheric hierarchy, it represents the cloud genus Cirrus (Ci) formed by ice-crystal filaments within the upper troposphere of Earth’s atmosphere. In meteorology and climatology, cirrus indicates moisture aloft and can precede frontal systems or mark jet-stream outflow.
