Channel 20. This stylized schematic depicts a bilaterally symmetric transmembrane pore with a narrow central lumen and an apparent closed gate at the lower constriction. Two elongated pale-blue subunits flank a vertical cleft, and a small circular element sits near the upper junction. In the biological hierarchy, it represents a membrane protein embedded within the lipid bilayer of a cell.
