A dental bitewing radiograph (BWX, bitewing X-ray) depicts the crowns of the maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth in occlusion with the receptor positioned between the arches. The image shows interproximal contacts and enamel–dentin contours, focusing on coronal structures rather than roots.
