An illustration shows a laboratory apparatus used in parasitology to recover motile nematode larvae from fecal or soil samples. A wide glass funnel is clamped to a stand and filled with warm water, with a gauze or tissue cone holding the sample suspended above the stem. A rubber tube with a clamp or stopcock at the funnel tip permits collection of larvae that migrate downward by hydrotaxis and thermotropism, concentrating for microscopic examination.
