Aspergillus. Stylized mycological illustration of a conidiophore ending in a globose vesicle with radiating phialides that generate chains of conidia (asexual spores). This depicts the reproductive structure of the genus Aspergillus, an ascomycete mold studied in microbiology and pathology. Hierarchically, conidia arise from phialides on the vesicle of an aerial hypha within the fungal mycelium. These spores enable airborne dispersal and substrate colonization, contributing to environmental spread and clinical disease such as aspergillosis.
