Ancylostoma rhabditiform larva. A stylized diagram shows the elongated, tapered body of a non-infective rhabditiform hookworm larva from the genus Ancylostoma (hookworm), a nematode helminth. In biological hierarchy, this is a larval stage (L1/L2) within the life cycle of an intestinal parasite whose adults inhabit the human gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The image relates to parasitology and medical microbiology, where such larvae are identified in stool microscopy; they later molt in soil to the infectious filariform L3 (third-stage larva), enabling cutaneous transmission to humans.
