A simplified anatomical diagram depicts clusters of pulmonary alveoli branching from a small respiratory bronchiole. The image shows alveolar sacs composed of multiple alveoli, representing a microanatomical structure within the lung parenchyma of the respiratory system. In anatomy and respiratory physiology, these air spaces form part of the pulmonary acinus and enable gas exchange by allowing diffusion of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) across the alveolar–capillary interface.
