The organism is Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis), a unicellular eukaryote studied in parasitology and infectious disease. It inhabits the human genitourinary (GU) tract of the host species Homo sapiens and causes the sexually transmitted infection (STI) trichomoniasis by adhering to epithelial cells. In biological hierarchy, it is a single cell interacting with tissues of the reproductive and urinary systems to enable colonization and transmission.
