A simplified orthopedic illustration depicting an oblique diaphyseal Fx (fracture) of the femur, the long bone of the thigh within the appendicular skeleton. The diagonal fracture line traverses the mid-shaft, between the proximal head/neck and the distal condyles. In anatomy and pathology/traumatology, this lesion compromises cortical integrity, pain and instability, and impairs weight-bearing and locomotion enabled by the femur at the hip and knee joints.
