The distorted human features—especially the hand, lips, and tongue—are enlarged along the precentral gyrus to indicate disproportionate cortical representation for fine motor control. This anatomical structure is the cerebral cortex of the brain within the central nervous system, studied in neuroanatomy and motor physiology.
