The lesion represents squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a malignant epithelial neoplasm arising from stratified squamous mucosa. Within the biological hierarchy, the tumor is a tissue-level pathology within the esophageal organ of the digestive system. In anatomy and oncology/pathology, SCC obstructs bolus transit and may produce dysphagia. The site is proximal to the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) and superior to the stomach in Homo sapiens (human).
