The Thomson atomic model, also known as the plum pudding model, is a model of the atom proposed by J.J. Thomson in 1904. It consists of a uniform sphere of positive charge with electrons embedded in it like raisins in a pudding. This model was the first to suggest that the atom is composed of smaller particles. It is still used today to explain the structure of the atom and its components.
