But, in real life they are really important to maintain the marine ecosystem. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without sharks, entire ecosystems can collapse, changing the structure of ocean food webs and threatening our food supply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, sharks have more reasons to fear us than the opposite and the numbers are not optimistic at all.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to <a href=\"https:\/\/anglers.com\/news\/overfishing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overfishing<\/a>, humans kill nearly 100 million sharks every year \u2013 an average of 11,000 sharks per hour and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.scientificamerican.com\/extinction-countdown\/30-percent-of-sharks-rays-and-related-species-at-risk-of-extinction\/\">30% of shark species are now in danger of extinction.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I hope that this day will help us to remember the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, it\u2019s important to reach more people, beyond the scientific community, to this cause and have a communication more efficient in science. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, to mark this day, I made a list of amazing photos and videos of sharks.
