A better approach would be science AND politics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seems like every time there are politics interests, we need to choose a side. However, the basic goal in science is to search for more information to understand better the world around us and how we &#8211; as humans &#8211; interact with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The struggle of science versus politics is no brand news. How many of us laughs now about the time when we believed the Earth was flat, or that our planet was the center of the Uni<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">verse?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, it is funny. However, nowadays we have anti-vaccine movements, creationism as the only theory for the origin of the world in science classes and global warming unbelievers &#8211; and that is not funny at all.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mindthegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cordas.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6543 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mindthegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cordas.jpg\" alt=\" Science versus politics: what about it?\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mindthegraph.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cordas.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mindthegraph.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cordas-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what is the point? As very well-written by Scientific American, the point is to make scientific information reach people. And to make that happen, we need to communicate well our work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, influential politicians may have an old-fashioned opinion about science theories (even though they have no academic background to argue about it). In this case, it is essential that we, as scientists and citizens, make sure the scientific knowledge we work so hard to build reaches as many people as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many ways to improve science communication. One way that is very effective is visually.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.scientificamerican.com\/sa-visual\/how-science-visualization-can-help-save-the-world\/?WT.mc_id=SA_FB_ARTC_BLOG\">Amanda Monta\u00f1ez, writer for Scientific American<\/a>, has a great opinion on how we can start:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why information graphics?
