Sponsored by Suburu and AAAS (the publisher of Science), this annual competition highlights books that promote science literacy among children and young adults.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOne day, my sister will be bigger than me,\u201d a friend\u2019s 3-year-old recently announced. \u201cHow do you know that?\u201d her mother asked, preparing for a preschooler\u2019s take on polygenic inheritance. Leaning in closer, she whispered: \u201cAn owl told me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What tickles me about this response is how perfectly it illustrates the creativity and open-mindedness with which children approach the world.
