Personer med schizofreni kan verka som om de har tappat kontakten med verkligheten. F\u00f6r att f\u00f6rst\u00e5 utvecklingen av schizofreni m\u00e5ste vi prata om synaptisk besk\u00e4rning. Enligt en artikel fr\u00e5n Nature neuroscience <sup>1<\/sup>, &#8220;<em>synaptisk besk\u00e4rning \u00e4r den process av eliminering av synapser som sker under tidig barndom fram till tidig vuxen \u00e5lder.\"<\/em>&nbsp;N\u00e4r hj\u00e4rnan utvecklas formas de neurala kretsarna av intryck fr\u00e5n omgivningen. Enligt Carl Sellgren, Roy Perlis och deras medarbetare kan immunsystemet spela en roll i den \u00f6verdrivna synaptiska besk\u00e4rningen. Deras nya artikel<sup>1<\/sup> som publicerades i Nature neuroscience beskriver en in vitro-modell som anv\u00e4nder cellul\u00e4r omprogrammering f\u00f6r att studera schizofrenipatientspecifik mikroglia-medierad synapsuppslukning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mikroglia \u00e4r en kollektiv typ av neuroglia (gliaceller) som finns i hela hj\u00e4rnan och ryggm\u00e4rgen. De utg\u00f6r 10-15% av alla celler som finns i hj\u00e4rnan. Som residenta makrofagceller fungerar de som den f\u00f6rsta och huvudsakliga formen av aktivt immunf\u00f6rsvar i det centrala nervsystemet (CNS).
