Hennes \u00f6versiktsartikel publicerades nyligen i Trends in Neurosciences med titeln<\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cell.com\/trends\/neurosciences\/fulltext\/S0166-2236(17)30069-3?rss=yes\"> Synaptisk f\u00f6rs\u00e4mring vid Alzheimers sjukdom: En dysreglerad symfoni.<\/a> <\/b>\u00a0Hon gjorde tv\u00e5 grafiska abstrakter om Alzheimers sjukdom f\u00f6r att illustrera sitt arbete.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>L\u00e5t oss f\u00f6rst b\u00f6rja med en liten introduktion av Stefania som studerar f\u00e4lt<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alzheimers sjukdom (AD) \u00e4r en neurodegenerativ sjukdom som orsakar kognitiva st\u00f6rningar och minnesf\u00f6rlust.  Alzheimers sjukdom \u00e4r den sj\u00e4tte vanligaste d\u00f6dsorsaken i USA och drabbar <strong>35 miljoner m\u00e4nniskor<\/strong> runt om i v\u00e4rlden. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Det finns bel\u00e4gg f\u00f6r att det finns ett orsakssamband mellan de kognitiva funktionsneds\u00e4ttningarna vid Alzheimers sjukdom och synapsf\u00f6rlust. Synapsdysfunktion kan ocks\u00e5 vara relaterad till tv\u00e5 patologiska v\u00e4gar. En extracellul\u00e4r ackumulering av <strong>beta-amyloid peptid<\/strong> och intracellul\u00e4r ackumulering av <strong>tau-protein<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Det \u00e4r k\u00e4nt att dessa tv\u00e5 processer spelar en viktig roll vid Alzheimers sjukdom.
