Vi m\u00e4ter framg\u00e5ng inom vetenskapen genom antalet artiklar vi har publicerat. D\u00e4rmed b\u00f6rjar kappl\u00f6pningen f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 v\u00e5r forskning klar.<\/p>\n<p>Vi f\u00f6rst\u00e5r varf\u00f6r det \u00e4r s\u00e5 viktigt att f\u00e5 sin forskning publicerad. F\u00f6r att n\u00e5 dit \u00e4r det en l\u00e5ng v\u00e4g att g\u00f6ra experiment och samla in data - f\u00f6r att inte tala om att g\u00e5 igenom granskare och tidskriftsredakt\u00f6rer. Till en b\u00f6rjan betydde en publicerad artikel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>En bra fr\u00e5ga<\/li>\n<li>V\u00e4l utformade experiment<\/li>\n<li>Relevanta uppgifter f\u00f6r fr\u00e5gan<\/li>\n<li>Analisis och diskussion som tillf\u00f6rde nya synvinklar p\u00e5 studie\u00e4mnet<\/li>\n<li>Ett bidrag till vetenskapen och den v\u00e4rld vi lever i<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Man beh\u00f6ver inte vara ett geni f\u00f6r att inse att det inte alltid \u00e4r s\u00e5 det g\u00e5r till.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/opinion\/prof-no-one-is-reading-you\">Enligt en unders\u00f6kning<\/a>, l\u00e4ses publicerade artiklar av i genomsnitt 10 personer. Och det \u00e4r inte allt. 82% av de publicerade artiklarna citeras inte en enda g\u00e5ng - av dem som citeras har bara 20% l\u00e4sts.<\/p>\n<p>Kan du f\u00f6rest\u00e4lla dig att du har gjort dig allt besv\u00e4r f\u00f6r att publicera en artikel och sedan inte f\u00e5 den l\u00e4st av n\u00e5gon annan \u00e4n f\u00f6rfattarna, granskarna och tidskriftens redakt\u00f6rer?<br \/>\nDet \u00e4r de flesta tidningars \u00f6de.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e5 varf\u00f6r m\u00e4ter vi framg\u00e5ng inom vetenskapen med antalet artiklar vi publicerar?<\/p>\n<p>Kan du t\u00e4nka dig om vi m\u00e4tte v\u00e5r framg\u00e5ng p\u00e5 ett annat s\u00e4tt? Till exempel skulle vi beh\u00f6va ett mycket enklare s\u00e4tt att f\u00f6rklara v\u00e5ra studier. Forskare skulle vara intresserade av att - inte bara publicera sina resultat - utan ocks\u00e5 se till att de \u00e4r l\u00e4tta att f\u00f6rst\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>Om vi tittar p\u00e5 hur tidskrifterna kommunicerar kan vi se att vissa av dem redan h\u00e5ller p\u00e5 att \u00e4ndra sina publiceringsinstruktioner. Numera kan vi hitta tidskrifter som efterfr\u00e5gar b\u00e4ttre figurer\/plottar och till och med grafiska sammanfattningar.<\/p>\n<p>Kanske \u00e4r det dags att t\u00e4nka lite annorlunda om varf\u00f6r och till vem vi publicerar v\u00e5ra resultat.
