Skupaj z drugimi plini, kot je metan, ima pomembno vlogo pri u\u010dinku tople grede. U\u010dinek tople grede omogo\u010da \u017eivljenje na Zemlji in zadr\u017euje toploto. Ti procesi skupaj z dihanjem \u017eivali in \u010dlovekovimi dejavnostmi so del kratkotrajnega kro\u017eenja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obstaja pa tudi dolgoro\u010dni cikel, ki se odvija v dalj\u0161ih \u010dasovnih obdobjih. Po podatkih nacionalnih akademij \"<em>V milijonih let se ogljikov dioksid v zraku zdru\u017euje z de\u017eevnico in tvori \u0161ibke kisline, ki zelo po\u010dasi raztapljajo kamnine.<\/em> Reke in potoki te minerale prena\u0161ajo v oceane, kjer jih \u017eivali uporabljajo za oblikovanje koralnih grebenov in \u0161koljk ter pomagajo uravnavati pH oceana. Te podatke je z analizo zagotovila NASA<sup>1<\/sup>. Po podatkih znanstvenikov z Nasinega Goddardovega in\u0161tituta za vesoljske \u0161tudije (GISS) v New Yorku so bile globalne temperature v letu 2018 za 1,5 stopinje Fahrenheita (0,83 stopinje Celzija) vi\u0161je od povpre\u010dja v obdobju 1951-1980. V svetovnem merilu so se temperature leta 2018 uvrstile za temperaturami v letih 2016, 2017 in 2015.
