Je to priemern\u00e1 vzdialenos\u0165 Zeme od Slnka, teda pribli\u017ene 150 mili\u00f3nov kilometrov. Merk\u00far je od Slnka vzdialen\u00fd len 0,39 astronomickej jednotky, zatia\u013e \u010do Jupiter obieha vo vzdialenosti 5,5 astronomickej jednotky. A Pluto je \u010faleko, vo vzdialenosti 39,2 astronomickej jednotky. Podobne ako p\u00e1s asteroidov pozost\u00e1va preva\u017ene z mal\u00fdch telies alebo pozostatkov z \u010dias, ke\u010f sa formovala Slne\u010dn\u00e1 s\u00fastava. Zatia\u013e \u010do mnoh\u00e9 asteroidy s\u00fa zlo\u017een\u00e9 predov\u0161etk\u00fdm z horn\u00edn a kovov, v\u00e4\u010d\u0161ina objektov Kuiperovho p\u00e1su je zlo\u017een\u00e1 preva\u017ene zo zmrznut\u00fdch prchav\u00fdch l\u00e1tok (ozna\u010dovan\u00fdch ako \"\u013ead\"), ako s\u00fa met\u00e1n, amoniak a voda. V Kuiperovom p\u00e1se sa nach\u00e1dzaj\u00fa tri ofici\u00e1lne uznan\u00e9 trpasli\u010die plan\u00e9ty: Pluto, Haumea a Makemake.
