O Pr\u00eamio Nobel de Fisiologia ou Medicina de 2018 foi concedido conjuntamente a James P. Allison e Tasuku Honjo \"por sua descoberta da terapia do c\u00e2ncer pela inibi\u00e7\u00e3o da regula\u00e7\u00e3o imune negativa\".<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Allison estudou uma prote\u00edna que funciona como um freio no sistema imunol\u00f3gico. Ele percebeu o potencial de liberar o freio e assim liberar nossas c\u00e9lulas imunes para atacar tumores. Ele ent\u00e3o desenvolveu este conceito em uma abordagem totalmente nova para tratar os pacientes.<\/p>\n

Em paralelo, Tasuku Honjo descobriu uma prote\u00edna em c\u00e9lulas imunes e revelou que ela tamb\u00e9m funciona como um freio, mas com um mecanismo de a\u00e7\u00e3o diferente.<\/p>\n

Portanto, Allison e Honjo mostraram como diferentes estrat\u00e9gias para inibir os freios do sistema imunol\u00f3gico podem ser usadas no tratamento do c\u00e2ncer.<\/p>\n
