Dit betekent dat wij als wetenschappers een enorme macht hebben. Maar hoeveel mensen weten van ons onderzoek? En hoeveel mensen be\u00efnvloeden we met onze gegevens? Als we onze samenleving willen verbeteren door wetenschap, moeten we praten over wetenschapscommunicatie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Onderzoekers geven geen vorm aan de publieke debatten van vandaag. Erger nog, we zien pseudowetenschap en nepnieuws ontstaan in onze samenleving. We hebben alle wetenschappelijke kennis om verschillende ziekten zoals mazelen te voorkomen. En toch sterven er nog steeds kinderen aan. Wat is het probleem? Onze kennis bereikt niet veel mensen. In plaats daarvan hebben we zelfs moeite om wetenschap te communiceren met andere wetenschappers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Volgens een interessante <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/academics-can-change-the-world-if-they-stop-talking-only-to-their-peers-55713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artikel uit The conversation<\/a>Onze wetenschappelijke gegevens zijn \"<em>grotendeels in academische tijdschriften die bijna uitsluitend door vakgenoten worden gelezen.<\/em>\u00a0Geschat wordt dat een gemiddeld tijdschriftartikel door niet meer dan tien mensen volledig wordt gelezen\". Volgens het artikel, <em>\"Sommige academici houden vol dat het niet hun taak is om voor het grote publiek te schrijven. Ze suggereren dat dit zou betekenen dat ze \"hun missie als intellectueel opgeven\". Ze willen niet het gevoel hebben dat ze complexe gedachten en argumenten \"afzwakken\". Het tegenargument is dat academici niet ge\u00efsoleerd kunnen opereren van de zeer re\u00eble problemen in de wereld.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Laat me je vragen, wat gebeurt er als je aan algemene mensen uitlegt wat je doet voor de kost? Hoe gemakkelijk is dat? Klinkt het alsof je een andere saaie wetenschappelijke taal spreekt? Of klink je als een gekke wetenschapper die rare experimenten doet zoals in de films?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9249\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mindthegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/9fd13d793fd6d40f50ce48004880b06a.gif\" alt=\"9fd13d793fd6d40f50ce48004880b06a\" width=\"600\" height=\"260\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maar het bereiken van het grote publiek is de sleutel in de strijd tegen pseudowetenschap.
