Een stamboom kan worden gebaseerd op vrijwel elk kenmerk dat de wetenschapper wil. Tegenwoordig is het belangrijkste kenmerk echter DNA.<\/p>\n<p>Als we aan DNA denken, denken we aan dieren, planten, bacteri\u00ebn, schimmels en andere groepen die vrij bekend zijn in de wetenschap. Maar wat als andere dingen ook DNA zouden hebben? Stel dat sterren ook aan de hand van hun DNA geanalyseerd zouden kunnen worden en zelfs een eigen stamboom zouden kunnen krijgen.<\/p>\n<p>Deze discussie is begonnen met twee wetenschappers: een astronoom en een bioloog. De astronoom, <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/mnras\/article\/2966869\/Cosmic\">\u00a0Dr. Paula Jofr\u00e9 van de Universiteit van Cambridge<\/a>had het geweldige idee om sterren te analyseren op dezelfde manier als biologen dat doen met diersoorten en de stamboom van de Melkweg sterren te bouwen.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Astronomen maakten een stamboom van de sterren in onze Melkweg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HZq1dLuhjMg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Paula Jofr\u00e9 en haar team selecteerden 22 sterren (inclusief de zon) en bestudeerden de chemische stoffen waaruit ze bestaan, hun leeftijd en hun beweging. Toen dit alles was verzameld, ontdekten zij drie hoofdtakken waarin de sterren konden worden onderverdeeld.<\/p>\n<p>Maar wat heeft DNA met dit alles te maken?<\/p>\n<p>Sterren die in dezelfde gaswolk zijn geboren, hebben dezelfde samenstelling. Deze samenstelling wordt \"stellair DNA\" genoemd. Aangezien sommige geanalyseerde sterren niet hetzelfde stellaire DNA hadden als de drie ontdekte takken, is het mogelijk dat sommige sterren uit een ander sterrenstelsel kwamen. Zeker als we in aanmerking nemen dat Dr. Paula Jofr\u00e9 slechts 22 sterren heeft geanalyseerd van de 100 miljard sterren die in ons melkwegstelsel bestaan. Dus ja, verder onderzoek is op zijn plaats om aannames te gaan doen.<\/p>\n<p>Maar de boodschap die we uit dit onderzoek halen is luid en duidelijk: wees niet bang om te leren van verschillende studiegebieden. Misschien ligt de oplossing voor je problemen of gewoon een betere manier om naar dingen te kijken vlak naast je.
