Vi s\u00e5 for f\u00f8rste gang et fotografi av et svart hull. Forskerne kunngjorde nyheten under en direktesending. Event Horizon Telescope (EHT-prosjektet), European Southern Observatory og National Science Foundation (NSF) sto bak arrangementet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Forskerne koblet sammen radioteleskoper over hele verden. Algoritmen som ble laget av Dr. Katie Bouman og andre forskere, samlet inn data fra radioteleskoper spredt over hele verden i regi av et internasjonalt samarbeid kalt Event Horizon Telescope.  Prosjektet studerte to supermassive svarte hull, Sagittarius A (Via Lactea) og sentrum av galaksen M87. Tidsskriftet Astrophysical Journal Letters publiserte bildet i en spesialutgave. Tilstedev\u00e6relsen av disse objektene p\u00e5virker omgivelsene p\u00e5 ekstreme m\u00e5ter, forvrenger romtiden og overoppheter alt materiale i omgivelsene.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\"Hvis et svart hull er nedsenket i et lyst omr\u00e5de, som en skive med gl\u00f8dende gass, forventer vi at det vil skape et m\u00f8rkt omr\u00e5de som ligner en skygge - noe Einsteins generelle relativitetsteori forutsier, men som vi aldri har sett f\u00f8r,<\/em>&nbsp;forklarte leder av EHTs vitenskapsr\u00e5d&nbsp;<b>Heino Falcke<\/b>&nbsp;ved Radboud-universitetet i Nederland.&nbsp;<em>\"Denne skyggen, som skyldes at gravitasjonen b\u00f8yer og fanger opp lyset i hendelseshorisonten, avsl\u00f8rer mye om naturen til disse fascinerende objektene, og gjorde det mulig for oss \u00e5 m\u00e5le den enorme massen til M87s svarte hull.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Multiple calibration and imaging methods have revealed a ring-like structure with a dark central region \u2014 the black hole\u2019s shadow \u2014 that persisted over multiple independent EHT observations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Det svarte hullet er 40 milliarder kilometer i diameter.
