Sju karettskildpadder ble funnet p\u00e5 begge kyster, s\u00e5 utvalgsst\u00f8rrelsen var minimal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det ble ikke funnet plast i noen karettskilpadder p\u00e5 noen av kystene. Skilpaddene i Stillehavet var vanligvis fylt med harde plastfragmenter, sannsynligvis fra en lang rekke menneskeskapte gjenstander, i motsetning til plast i Det indiske hav, som f\u00f8rst og fremst var fibre fra fiskegarn eller tau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Begge havene inneholdt h\u00f8ye konsentrasjoner av polyetylen, nylon og polypropylen som skilpaddene f\u00e5r i seg.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det er ikke mulig \u00e5 fastsl\u00e5 kilden til fragmentene som er funnet, siden disse polymerene er s\u00e5 mye brukt i plastprodukter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En betydelig kilde til marine milj\u00f8gifter n\u00e6r vannet kommer fra kasserte, demonterte og p\u00e5 annen m\u00e5te \u00f8delagte fiskeredskaper (ALDFG), som vanligvis best\u00e5r av plastfibre.
