Nous avons vu pour la premi\u00e8re fois, une photographie d'un trou noir. Les scientifiques ont annonc\u00e9 la nouvelle lors d'un \u00e9v\u00e9nement diffus\u00e9 en direct. Le t\u00e9lescope Event Horizon (projet EHT), l'Observatoire europ\u00e9en austral et la National Science Foundation (NSF) ont organis\u00e9 cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les chercheurs ont connect\u00e9 des radiot\u00e9lescopes du monde entier. L'algorithme cr\u00e9\u00e9 par le Dr Katie Bouman et d'autres scientifiques a permis de rassembler les donn\u00e9es recueillies par des radiot\u00e9lescopes dispers\u00e9s dans le monde entier, sous les auspices d'une collaboration internationale appel\u00e9e \"Event Horizon Telescope\".  Le projet \u00e9tudiait deux trous noirs supermassifs, le Sagittarius A (Via Lactea) et le centre de la galaxie M87. Le magazine Astrophysical Journal Letters a publi\u00e9 l'image dans une \u00e9dition sp\u00e9ciale. L'image pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e aujourd'hui est la combinaison d'images produites par de multiples m\u00e9thodes. Aucun algorithme ou personne n'a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 cette image, il a fallu le talent extraordinaire d'une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques du monde entier et des ann\u00e9es de travail acharn\u00e9 pour mettre au point l'instrument, le traitement des donn\u00e9es, les m\u00e9thodes d'imagerie et les techniques d'analyse n\u00e9cessaires pour r\u00e9aliser cet exploit apparemment impossible. C'est quoi un trou noir ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selon le projet EHT, les trous noirs sont d'extraordinaires objets cosmiques aux masses \u00e9normes mais aux tailles extr\u00eamement compactes. La pr\u00e9sence de ces objets affecte leur environnement de mani\u00e8re extr\u00eame, d\u00e9formant l'espace-temps et surchauffant toute mati\u00e8re environnante.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\"S'il est immerg\u00e9 dans une r\u00e9gion lumineuse, comme un disque de gaz incandescent, nous nous attendons \u00e0 ce qu'un trou noir cr\u00e9e une r\u00e9gion sombre semblable \u00e0 une ombre - quelque chose de pr\u00e9vu par la relativit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9rale d'Einstein que nous n'avons jamais vu auparavant,<\/em>&nbsp;a expliqu\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sidence du Conseil scientifique de l'EHT&nbsp;<b>Heino Falcke<\/b>&nbsp;de l'Universit\u00e9 Radboud, aux Pays-Bas.&nbsp;<em>\"Cette ombre, caus\u00e9e par la courbure gravitationnelle et la capture de la lumi\u00e8re par l'horizon des \u00e9v\u00e9nements, r\u00e9v\u00e8le beaucoup de choses sur la nature de ces objets fascinants et nous a permis de mesurer l'\u00e9norme masse du trou noir de M87.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De multiples m\u00e9thodes d'\u00e9talonnage et d'imagerie ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 une structure en forme d'anneau avec une r\u00e9gion centrale sombre - l'ombre du trou noir - qui a persist\u00e9 sur plusieurs observations ind\u00e9pendantes de l'EHT.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le trou noir a un diam\u00e8tre de 40 milliards de kilom\u00e8tres. Cela signifie 3 millions de fois la taille de notre plan\u00e8te - et est d\u00e9crit par les scientifiques comme un \"monstre\". Il a une masse 6,5 milliards de fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle du Soleil. Et on estime qu'il est l'un des plus grands ayant jamais exist\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Certains trous noirs \u00e9taient inactifs, mais pas celui-ci. Et cela signifie qu'il convertit les gaz et la mati\u00e8re \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 en \u00e9nergie avec une efficacit\u00e9 100 fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 la fusion nucl\u00e9aire qui alimente les \u00e9toiles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un trou noir a diff\u00e9rentes parties et structures.
