Kystinen fibroosi (CF) on autosomaalinen resessiivinen geneettinen sairaus. CF johtuu mutaatioista geeniss\u00e4, joka koodaa CFTR-kanavaa (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator).  T\u00e4m\u00e4 proteiini vastaa ionien kuljetuksen vaihtelusta solukalvojen l\u00e4pi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genetiikan kotiviitteiden mukaan <sup>1<\/sup>CFTR-geeni antaa ohjeet kystisen fibroosin transmembraanisen johtokyvyn s\u00e4\u00e4telij\u00e4ksi kutsutun proteiinin valmistukseen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00e4m\u00e4 proteiini toimii kanavana sellaisten solujen kalvon l\u00e4pi, jotka tuottavat limaa, hike\u00e4, sylke\u00e4, kyyneleit\u00e4 ja ruoansulatusentsyymej\u00e4. Kanava kuljettaa negatiivisesti varautuneita hiukkasia, kloridi-ioneja, soluihin ja soluista ulos. Kloridi-ionien kuljetus auttaa hallitsemaan veden liikkumista kudoksissa, mik\u00e4 on v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4t\u00f6nt\u00e4 ohuen, vapaasti virtaavan liman tuottamiseksi.
