Tiene un papel importante en el efecto invernadero, con otros gases como el metano. El efecto invernadero permite la vida en la Tierra, captando el calor.  Normalmente, el ciclo del carbono en la Tierra mantiene un equilibrio natural de carbono en la atm\u00f3sfera, la tierra y el oc\u00e9ano a trav\u00e9s de la \"respiraci\u00f3n del planeta\". Sin embargo, las actividades humanas como la emisi\u00f3n de combustibles f\u00f3siles est\u00e1n rompiendo el equilibrio del ciclo del carbono provocando el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-1 wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/mindthegraph.com\/science_figures\">Crear figuras cient\u00edficas eficaces en minutos<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>C\u00f3mo funciona el ciclo del carbono<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Los oc\u00e9anos desempe\u00f1an un papel importante en el ciclo del carbono. El intercambio de gases permite un equilibrio entre la atm\u00f3sfera y los oc\u00e9anos. Mientras tanto, las algas y otros organismos aut\u00f3trofos captan el di\u00f3xido de carbono y proporcionan ox\u00edgeno mediante la fotos\u00edntesis. Seg\u00fan las Academias Nacionales, \"<em>A lo largo de millones de a\u00f1os, el di\u00f3xido de carbono del aire se combina con el agua de lluvia para formar \u00e1cidos d\u00e9biles que disuelven muy lentamente las rocas.<\/em> Los r\u00edos y las corrientes transportan estos minerales a los oc\u00e9anos, donde son utilizados por los animales para formar arrecifes de coral y conchas y ayudan a equilibrar el pH del oc\u00e9ano. Durante periodos de tiempo a\u00fan m\u00e1s largos, el carbono org\u00e1nico (formado por los restos de la vida marina) se almacena en las profundidades de la corteza terrestre y forma combustibles f\u00f3siles, como el petr\u00f3leo y el gas natural. Parte de este carbono ser\u00e1 liberado de nuevo a la atm\u00f3sfera por los volcanes, completando el ciclo\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las actividades humanas como la emisi\u00f3n de combustibles f\u00f3siles y los procesos industriales est\u00e1n aumentando el CO2 en la atm\u00f3sfera. En consecuencia, el oc\u00e9ano absorbe cada vez m\u00e1s di\u00f3xido de carbono.
