Su art\u00edculo de revisi\u00f3n fue publicado recientemente en Trends in Neurosciences con el t\u00edtulo<\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cell.com\/trends\/neurosciences\/fulltext\/S0166-2236(17)30069-3?rss=yes\"> Deterioro sin\u00e1ptico en la enfermedad de Alzheimer: Una sinfon\u00eda desregulada.<\/a> <\/b>\u00a0Realiz\u00f3 dos res\u00famenes gr\u00e1ficos sobre el Alzheimer para ilustrar su trabajo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>En primer lugar, vamos a empezar con una peque\u00f1a introducci\u00f3n de Stefania estudiando el campo<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La enfermedad de Alzheimer (EA) es un trastorno neurodegenerativo que provoca d\u00e9ficits cognitivos y p\u00e9rdida de memoria.  La EA es la sexta causa de muerte en Estados Unidos y afecta a <strong>35 millones de personas<\/strong> en todo el mundo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las pruebas sugieren que existe un papel causal entre los d\u00e9ficits cognitivos de la EA y la p\u00e9rdida de sinapsis. Adem\u00e1s, la disfunci\u00f3n de las sinapsis puede estar relacionada con dos v\u00edas patol\u00f3gicas. Una acumulaci\u00f3n extracelular de <strong>p\u00e9ptido beta-amiloide<\/strong> y la acumulaci\u00f3n intracelular de <strong>prote\u00edna tau<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se sabe que estos dos procesos desempe\u00f1an un papel importante en la EA. Sin embargo, una de las principales cuestiones fundamentales que quedan por resolver es la relaci\u00f3n molecular entre el beta-amiloide y la tau, y c\u00f3mo estos dos agentes causan de forma interdependiente alteraciones de la funci\u00f3n sin\u00e1ptica en la EA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As\u00ed, para analizar por separado los efectos de la prote\u00edna tau y del p\u00e9ptido beta-amiloide en la funci\u00f3n sin\u00e1ptica y la EA, Stefania utiliz\u00f3 dos res\u00famenes gr\u00e1ficos que realiz\u00f3 en la plataforma Mind the Graph.
