Der Welt-AIDS-Tag findet seit 1988 jedes Jahr am 1. Dezember statt. Es ist ein internationaler Tag, an dem das Bewusstsein f\u00fcr die durch eine HIV-Infektion verursachte Krankheit AIDS gesch\u00e4rft wird und an dem derjenigen gedacht wird, die an dieser Krankheit gestorben sind. Der Welt-AIDS-Tag ist eine der acht offiziellen globalen Gesundheitskampagnen der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO).<\/p>\n

Es ist wichtig, die Menschen \u00fcber Sexualerziehung und den Unterschied zwischen HIV (Humanes Immundefizienzvirus) und AIDS (erworbenes Immunschw\u00e4chesyndrom) aufzukl\u00e4ren. HIV ist ein Retrovirus, das AIDS verursacht. HIV greift das Immunsystem an.<\/p>\n

Im Verlauf der Krankheit nimmt die Viruslast stetig zu und die Immunschw\u00e4che verschlechtert sich (aufgrund der sinkenden CD4-Zahl), so dass sich HIV\/AIDS in verschiedenen Stadien manifestiert. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) hat die HIV-Krankheit in 4 Stadien eingeteilt:<\/p>\n

Stufe I<\/strong> (auch als prim\u00e4re HIV-Infektion bezeichnet): In diesem Stadium hat die Person keinerlei Symptome und ist sich m\u00f6glicherweise nicht bewusst, dass sie infiziert ist.
\nStufe II<\/strong> (auch bekannt als klinisch asymptomatisches Stadium): Dieses Stadium kann 8-10 Jahre andauern und weist au\u00dfer geschwollenen Dr\u00fcsen (Lymphknoten), etwas Gewichtsverlust, Mundgeschw\u00fcren und leichten Haut- und Nagelinfektionen keine gr\u00f6\u00dferen Symptome auf.
\nStufe III<\/strong> (auch als symptomatische HIV-Infektion bezeichnet): In diesem Stadium ist das Immunsystem stark beeintr\u00e4chtigt, und die infizierte Person beginnt nun, viele Symptome zu zeigen, wie z. B. starken Gewichtsverlust, chronischen Durchfall, anhaltendes Fieber, Tuberkulose, schwere bakterielle Infektionen (z. B. Lungenentz\u00fcndung und Meningitis).
\nStufe IV<\/strong> (auch bekannt als AIDS): Das Immunsystem ist nun schwer gesch\u00e4digt und die Symptome werden noch gravierender. Die Person ist nun stark geschw\u00e4cht und leidet unter schweren wiederkehrenden bakteriellen Infektionen. Au\u00dferdem entwickelt der K\u00f6rper Krebserkrankungen wie das Kaposi-Sarkom und andere Infektionen wie Pneumocystis-carinii-Pneumonie (PCP), Toxoplasmose und HIV-Enzephalopathie.<\/p>\n

Wie HIV funktioniert<\/strong><\/h2>\n

HIV greift das Immunsystem \u00fcber spezielle Arten von wei\u00dfen Blutk\u00f6rperchen, die so genannten CD4-Zellen, an. CD4-Zellen spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Steuerung und Kontrolle der Funktionen des gesamten Immunsystems. Sobald HIV im Immunsystem angekommen ist, vermehrt es sich in den CD4-Zellen. Im Verlauf der Infektion werden sie durch HIV au\u00dfer Gefecht gesetzt und abget\u00f6tet, so dass ihre normale Funktion beeintr\u00e4chtigt wird.<\/p>\n
