Jo tykkere isen er, jo mere termisk isolering fungerer den som, hvilket forhindrer havets overfladetemperatur i at stige om vinteren og giver beskyttelse mod varme om sommeren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det er ogs\u00e5 mindre sandsynligt, at den arktiske sommersmeltning underst\u00f8ttes af tyndere is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Derfor har forskere evalueret resultaterne fra et nyudviklet computerprogram, der har til form\u00e5l at estimere forskellen i snedybde hvert \u00e5r, og identificeret <strong>udtynding af havisen<\/strong> accelereret meget mere end forventet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Unders\u00f8gelsens form\u00e5l og m\u00e5ls\u00e6tninger<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Da havisd\u00e6kket modererer luft-vand-udvekslingen og varmeoverf\u00f8rslen mellem havene og atmosf\u00e6ren, har det betydning for regionale \u00f8kosystemer, vindm\u00f8nstre p\u00e5 halvkuglen og det globale klima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Termisk isolation \u00f8ges med tykkere havis, s\u00e5 temperaturerne forbliver lavere om vinteren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det er ogs\u00e5 havisens tykkelse under sneakkumuleringen, der bestemmer havisens dybde under vandoverfladen, hvilket bidrager v\u00e6sentligt til havisens termodynamiske v\u00e6kst.
