Isotoper er grundstoffer, der har det samme antal protoner, men et forskelligt antal neutroner, som ikke henfalder med tiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nu er disse isotopiske grundstoffer blevet forbundet med bestemmelsen af vandrende dyrs f\u00f8dekilde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lamellerne i \u00f8jets linser siges at v\u00e6re rige p\u00e5 proteiner. Disse proteiner er bundet af isotopiske elementer, der f\u00f8rer til en isotopisk signatur, som kan evalueres gennem analyse af stabile isotoper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Den unge laksefisk blev unders\u00f8gt i tre forskellige isotopiske habitater med et forskelligt f\u00f8denet for at kvantificere det arkiverede v\u00e6v i fiskens \u00f8je\u00e6ble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De anvendte stabile isotop-elementer var svovl 35, kulstof 13 og kv\u00e6lstof 15 (34<\/sup>S, 13<\/sup>C,15<\/sup>N).<\/p>\n\n\n\nSvovlisotopen er nyttig til at l\u00e6re om f\u00f8dekilder. Fisk fra kystvandring er rige p\u00e5 kulstof-13-isotoper, og det bruges derfor til at bestemme vandringsbev\u00e6gelsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kv\u00e6lstofisotopen bruges i styringen af de trofiske niveauer hos vandrende dyr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Den stabile isotopanalyse er formuleret p\u00e5 baggrund af konceptet \"du er, hvad du spiser\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P\u00e5 den baggrund kiggede forskerne efter isotoper af grundstoffer som svovl, kulstof og kv\u00e6lstof i v\u00e6v fra voksne laksefisk, der var vokset op i tre forskellige habitater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deres unders\u00f8gelse viste, at de fisk, der voksede i den s\u00e6sonbestemte flodslette, havde flere lag af linsen, og at de voksede langt hurtigere end dem, der voksede i floden og i kl\u00e6kkeriet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isotopanalysen afsl\u00f8rede ogs\u00e5, at fiskene havde et h\u00f8jt indhold af kulstof og svovl p\u00e5 grund af rismarkerne i omfartsvejen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bindingen af \u00f8jenfiskekuglens proteiner og isotopelementet blev brugt til at analysere kostindholdet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Derudover havde de unge laksefisk et stabilt isotopelement registreret i deres \u00f8jenlinse, hvilket f\u00f8rte til sammenligningen med de voksne fisk for at f\u00e5 et overblik over deres levested og f\u00f8dekilde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dette v\u00e6rkt\u00f8j til analyse af stabile isotoper (SIA) har udvidet mulighederne for forskellige bevaringsprojekter.
